Mauler she wrote

Out of desperation I had to buy a Mauler from my hated local game store. It was the least overpriced Warmahordes model they had in stock. One example is that they are selling a box of Fennblades for $110 NZ, crunching the numbers for the exchange rate that should be around $66-$70 RRP. So $40 overpriced. I need this unit for my Equinox list so I was getting desperate as the normal UK webstores were out of stock. Lucky for me Comics Compulsion in Christchurch and a box off the shelf for $79.  Why a Mauler? Here are two good reasons..

1. The new Plastic Mauler looks really bad. This I think is partly due to making the kit work as the basis for the 3 generic Dire trolls. It just doesn't have any character.
2. Maulers are angry piles of awesome in the game.

However I am noticing a trend in Privateer Presses figures. They are horrible to assemble. This model had huge gaps in the joins but it is assembled and ready for painting tomorrow.

Here is what the new plastic Mauler will look like:

Here is the un-greenstuffed model:

Late night Mulg

So Mulg was easier to paint than he was to assemble. I started painting him tonight after work at 7:30pm and took the pics at just after midnight. He was primed black but other than the stones and his beat stick there isn't a lot of detail which needed attention.

Mulg oh how I hate you so

So my Christmas Present to myself arrived 3 days after Christmas. A Dire troll called Mulg. Its a character warbeast for warmachine/hordes and hes a real monster in combat. He is also one of the worst models to put together.

First off his legs are tiny compared to the rest of him. I am without my pinvice (lost in the most recent move) so he is held together with superglue and wishful thinking. I don't expect him to last. To make matters worse is that his body comes in an upper, lower and legs parts with arms and his face as seperate parts. Every single join needed green stuffing to hide the gaps.

This guy better smash every opponent he comes across or he might get a rod stuck up his arse (for structural integrity of course).

Impaled!

Finished my Troll Impaler. My Mulg hasn't arrived for Christmas, I blame the Elven Agenda trying to keep the Trollkin people down.

We at least the Impaler is having a good Christmas with some brand new Spears and not one but two Turkeys to eat.

Stoned!

Finally found some time to get some painting done. Here are my Krielstone bearers. Missing the UA and the two each bearers who are on order and should be here by Christmas.

Trollkin Champions, everyone gets a medal!

Finally got around to painting some my Trolls. Finished my unit of Trollkin Champions. I got half way through painting before I realized they have armour plates on their butt which I forgot to glue on. Will have them paint those separately and glue them on.

This army will debut at Equinox next year. I have learnt that I have a grudge match vs Chris's apprentice. Should be an interesting game as I have now played 6 games total of MkII Warmachine/hordes.

Here they are:
